My family is driving me crazy. As a backstory, my wife died at one point, and i decided i couldnt handle my family and left for a couple years. My wife had left me a sizeable chunk of money, and now every fucking family member is looking to rob me blind. I eventually re kindled, or at least tried to rekindle the family relationships, thinking things would change this time around. And yet, absolutely nothing has. My mom got better at insulting me in slightly less obvious ways, but this time around they are putting out all the stops.
My mom is approaching retirement and she wants me and her to merge bank accounts and assets so she can find herself a house in Florida to go retire in. She also wants me to effectively live with her full time, because she slapped a "for your health" label on the idea. So pretty much, she wants me to willingly give up my financial independence, autonomy, and really any kindling of me ever remarrying or finding friends. The idea being that "health is important" so screw everything else.
The second problem is my mom hates that im successful without a degree. She doesn't care that i payed off my brother's student loans, or lavishly forgive most inter family loans. She cares about the fact she cant proclaim both her sons have a masters or above. Because apparently , unless i drink the edumuhcation koolaid, i may as well be a basement dwelling loser. She keeps moving the goal post too, at first it was i would never find a job, then it was i would never find a managerial job, now its im not gonna find a job after 40.
She then decided to create an ultimatum against other family members, by making them choose between talking to me or her. And now im just here, getting angry over this petty stuff, when i could have just never bothered to talk to them again
