Especially you young men. When was the last time you were physically uncomfortable? Challenged yourself? We have uncomfortable times ahead, but it's possible to condition your personal comfort level, to increase tolerances.

For example: I grew up without AC, and have never habitually used it as a part of my lifestyle. My comfortable temperature for sleeping is in the low 80's, before I need a fan on me. (My mother doesn't visit. lol)

Try hiking 20 miles, spending the night outdoors, then hike 20 miles home. Try going 2 days with no food. Try no electronic entertainment for 2 days. Try something.

Get a shovel and pick axe, dig up some lawn. Plant a garden. Build a fence. Do hard work that will pay off later.

It's September. I'm not in upside down land.

[–] 8 pts

Build a green house and stop making excuses mother fucker.

[–] 1 pt

I’m working on an engine repair this weekend, does that count?

[–] 5 pts

You can plant garlic, kale, thyme, oregano, sage, radishes ( seed to harvest in 20 days), and some perennial plants do better when planted in the Fall.

September is a great time to dig, prepare the soil, fertilize. Pull weeds, add compost. Good soil takes a year to build at a minimum. I laugh at people who have a box of survival seeds and think they will get to eat the first year after using them. Because A not in winter. Because B takes 4 months of not winter. Because C, your soil is crap, your skills are nil, you don’t have a pest management plan, watering plan, soil amendment plan, fence plan, etc.

If you prepare now, come early spring your soil will be decent.

I'm working on dropping caffeine from my diet.

  • No Tea
  • No Coffee
  • No Caffeinated soft drinks.

(I think I have sugar pretty well down)

My aim is if food prices get excessively high and if global food logistics collapses, what local amenities will I have to work with and what cravings will I be left with that won't be satiated?

It's like if you removed coffee from your diet how well would you be able to perform your work/day/patience with other people?

It may seem a minor thing

[–] 3 pts

I did the same thing, haven't drank alcohol, soda or tea/coffee in a few months now

[–] 1 pt

I'm drinking spiced ginger tea right now.

Something to fill the "cold turkey" gap.

[–] 1 pt

I gave up many things, but coffee seems to be the hardest to drop, go figure.

I really like the first cup in a morning.

Really puts me into the groove.

The subsequent 3-4 cups help me too, but the first is the best.

You may or may not be looking to lose weight, but the principles are the same, learn about fasting with Cole Robinson. Dude is a beast.

Old channel with a treasure trove of videos and Livestreams: https://youtube.com/c/SnakeDiet

New channel that he posts almost daily: https://youtube.com/channel/UCxieBfucStvjLkx4u7NYoAw

The secret to staving off hunger is snake juice, essentially salt water, at first your hunger will be purely psychological.

Snake juice recipe

2L water 1tsp baking soda (Bob's Red Mill is best) 1tsp KCL (NoSalt) 1/2 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt

You can order pouches of snake juice on scamazon and it would support Cole if you want but it is expensive.

Cole is the best. I post his shit sometimes. Redpilled as fuck. you can tell he's j-woke but he doesn't go there.

I quit coffee a year or so ago. I just woke up one morning and it didn't sound good. Because I used to buy good quality coffee, I'm saving a good amount of money.

Imagine taking your advice and walking out of the woods after the weekend and seeing checkpoints set up everywhere.

So the drywall I hang all week isn't physically uncomfortable enough? I need to go walk? Yeah that'll make me think twice about being lazy...

If anyone finds any of those things you listed physically uncomfortable, then they're literally fucked if the Apocalypse/Economic Collapse happens. Just saying...

Not everyone is in the 'same place'. Do something uncomfortable for YOU.

[–] 4 pts

Are you daring me to try and do nothing for a whole weekend?

I find not having something to do to be very uncomfortable/unsettling.

[–] 2 pts

Doing nothing would kill me no fucking thanks.

I can’t even watch a full length movie without feeling “work-sick”

[–] 7 pts

Ohhh a piece of drywall. WE GOT A FUCKING TOUGH GUY HERE

I was in the Boy Scouts for my entire childhood, so I'm used to both hot and freezing temperatures, very long hikes, lack of food, and no electronic entertainment. I also consider that to be the brightest spot of my childhood.

I'll rail lines of chili powder all weekend.

[–] 3 pts

What? You mean, butt stuff?

Homo

A lot of people don’t want to send me Dick pics. Maybe do that

Try hiking 20 miles, spending the night outdoors, then hike 20 miles home.

Let's not kill people. Most people can't do five in and out with gear, food, and water.

This is timely, pushing through discomfort as a means of growth has been on my mind lately.

Not sure what yet but I'll do something.

[–] 1 pt

I'm going to be crawling around on concrete on my back replacing some axle seals in my rear diff.

[–] 1 pt

Same, but suspension parts.

Edit: at least it's concrete this time, not gravel.

That's why it's good to have a friend that installs hot water heaters that you can acquire huge sections of cardboard off of.
