I would agree with the exception of how spread out we are. Naturally it is impossible to have any real accuracy, but just based off of my area it's less than 1% concentration.
So part of that would be estimating the percentages across states and counties, regardless of the purpose, be it political, or if someone were more radical.
How would we estimate?
One way might be through scraping facebook data, which despite new restrictions on api access, and despite many of us dropping it, still has enough people on it to be a valuable source of insights.

Virginia is well within the 5% mark despite being purple.
That's really good to hear. I assume it's because it's a whiter demographic. I'm in Georgia and it's so black almost everywhere here, it's shocking.
