The south from what I've noticed has held more firmly in their beliefs than the rest of the country. They may have found it to be for the better that women didn't have that. The south is why the 19th amendment took so long to ratify with Tennessee being able to barely ratify it
Family values seem to be stronger there. Or at least thats what anecdotal evidence tells me.

It would make sense then that a wife would trust her husband to make the right decision for the family.
I read a few stories about how couples that had been married for over a decade split after the 2016 election.
It's simply another way to divide the country and individual households.
