The missing flu and pneumonia deaths is another one that nobody has been able to pretend to answer.
Unfortunately, I've heard this in response to the disappearance of the flu:
"The flu is down 98% last year because of the masks, social distancing, and lockdowns. This just proves the effectiveness of all the mandates!" You could retort that "If something like the flu can be erased by simply doing what we did last year, then all communicable diseases should have fucking vanished last year."
People genuinely believe this. They can't wrap their minds around "The flu has been re-branded as covid19, and re-sold to us as being far more dangerous than it truly is". The flu and covid19 have identical symptoms. Hospitals and doctor's offices are financially incentivized to have covid patients to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.
Flu vaxx eliminated them!
It's a disease of decadence, our western diets wear us down, the flu is the finishing move.

Possibly the answer is the hyper cleanliness of the first world societies. It's a non argument because of the difficulty of surveilling morbidity and mortality in Africa- most of their infectious illnesses are zoonotic...they still have plague, cholera; yellow fever; measles...fuck- monkeypox....anyway, supposedly Africa is experiencing a covid crisis...
I specifically remember a cold or flu strain from around 2004 that one of the symptoms was loss of sense of smell and taste.
