A Muslim wanted to cross a river, but it was the season of flooding and due to his repressive religious laws, he had never learned how to swim.
A Jew who lived by the river saw the Muslim and said, "I am a fine swimmer. will carry you across the river on my back."
"Why would you do that?" the Muslim asked in surprise. "Muslims and Jews have always been enemies."
"I believe in the brotherhood of all men," the Jew replied. "In any case, we worship the same God."
Thanking the Jew, the Muslim climbed onto the Jew's back, and the Jew set out across the river. Halfway there, the Jew dumped the Muslim into the deep, swift current and watched him drown.
Then the Jew swam back to the bank of the river to wait for the next Muslim.
