When somebody stole mine off my truck I had the garage straight pipe it to reduce the noise and just had them reset my sensors. It's just a feature for emission control to further perpetuate the global warming/ cars are a toxic aid to the environment trope. It's not essential.

Resetting the o2 sensors isn't going to be a viable option. As soon as the exu detects high emissions, the CEL is going to come back on. They would have had to program the ecu to ignore or show permanent readiness for the o2 sensors, some call it a tune, or a flash. In most cities you are required to have an emission test performed, part of that test is visual.

It's going to be expensive. Not only do you need a replacement catalytic converter, the exhaust piping will need to be replaced to fit the new converter. Call your auto insurance they may pay for it minus your deductable. A little known fact, if you own your home, your homeowners insurance could cover it, the deductible might be different though.

To get your car going, a hacksaw, muffler pipe, muffler tape, hose clamps and you're in business! If its a newer car you're going to definitely get a "check engine" light.

Depending on what year and tupe of vehhivle i wouldnt worry too much about it. I wanted people to steal mine for the longest time. Makes your exhaust sound better. It only matters if you have post catalytic Oxygen sensors. Either get a new one or have your computer programmed to ignore the post cat O2 sensors.

Oh yeah you gotta have that reprogrammed or new ones installed. And i dont even doubt your check engine light is on now. It shouldnt run that bad though for a bit it just has to account for the new fuel air ratio. Those are designed to recyvle unburnt exhaust gases back into the system via the egr valve but also burn the unburnt exhaust fuel by heating it up in the cat. Its the primary O2 sensors that fully affect the way the car behaves. I would get a flex pipe and some exhaust clamps and run it like that until you get it fixed the way you want.

Buy a dinaflow catalytic converter, weld the bitch up there with flex flex pipe, fly a confederate and maga flag out each window. Buy a megaphone and drive around screaming fuck niggers over your new improved loud ass car

My car is a 2016 sonata. God I’m missing my old car so much. My old 2003 Elantra. I wouldn’t have given a fuck if they stole it off that. I only got this car last October. Havnt even had it a year yet. Words cannot describe what I want to do to these monkeys

I have full insurance. Idk what my deductible is I guess I’m about to learn. The police suggested I just go to a muffler shop. I’m looking up ways to deter them. The best Iv seen is a plate over it all. That might be the way to go idk. I’m gonna go around me entire apartment complex door to door and tell everyone about it. Maybe we can have some neighborly communication and catch them. Maybe not. The worst part about life is how you can go about minding your business. Not fucking anyone over. Doing everything right. Then this shit happens. From I’m reading it’s not cheap to fix. Thieves probbaly got a couple hundred bucks. I hope they really enjoy their high. Who knows maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll do some heroin with a little too much fentanyl in it.
