I'm not unemployed or anything, but today i went to go volunteer at habitat/restore. I wasn't super chatty, i just took the tasks they gave me, finished said tasks as best I could, didn't chat too much with the other people, and kept to myself. Literally i spent 2-3 hours volunteering, and the manager woman offered me a job as a truck driver getting items from customers, a paying job too.

This whole hurr durr i cant find a job is complete bullshit, most kids today are just completely lazy fucks. Was the job offer glamorous? Fuck no, its a truck driver position. But it also means some extra income on the side, and its under the table too, so yeah, really nice. But, it's a job, and it pays, and i get to see if i like the truck driving job before i commit full time to it. I completely do NOT expect this job to sustain me, its just a fun thing to do on the side.

But i guess, its becoming so rare to find non idiots who actually do a job without using their job as the gossip room, so when you see someone actually doing their job, it comes off as shocking or something. They expect their job to hand them a 6 figure salary with full benefits for doing a bottom of the barrel job

Kids are so fucking lazy today. We have some warehouse positions open and having a ton of trouble getting applicants. We even offered to pay them to come to an interview and 90% of the ones that schedule an interview don't even show up ... to a paid fucking interview. Finally had to hire somebody, so hired the kid that did show up. This kid is balls on retarded as fuck. The dude can't work more than 4 hours. It's literally not possible. He starts having panic attacks and anxiety.

I know the kids are all faggy and supid today, but I just can't understand how it happened like flipping a fucking switch. This is all new in just the last 10 years.

I don't believe you. I've been working manufacturing for the past 15 years. The working atmosphere has gotten significantly worse than when I started, and I don't blame people for being unwilling to put up with bullshit from employers.

In my last job I had 3 cameras on my area at all times. If I were to spend more than two minutes waiting on the machine or go to the bathroom at an unapproved time, I would get a write up. Forget about actually being on your phone, if it was even in your pocket, it was a write up.

That shit is insane. People aren't robots to be used until failure and then tossed in the trash, and now they are starting to learn that. I can only hope it gets worse for (((employers))).

Edit: Oh and that was on a 50 hr week minimum we were more often than not expected to put in 60s. No small surprise I told them to fuck off.

I climbed cell towers for 70 hours a week for $14 an hour. Tell me about your terrible working conditions in an air conditioned warehouse @ 15$ an hour again?

I wouldn't base your characterization on the current market. 40% of people make more on the UI on steroids than they would otherwise, plus eviction moratorium, plus student loan forbearance... a lot of the workforce is being payed not to work, lest they catch the flu.

The rest, those smart or driven enough to be employed, will gravitate towards the higher-paying or more comfortable positions. I'd rather wait tables than work in a warehouse.

Everyone's different. I'd rather lose my house and starve than work in anything that requires dealing with insane customers. In a warehouse you can just do your thing in peace.

1st time I came up against this stupidity was a single mom circa 2000. Jumped shit when she forgot to give her kid Ritalin. "He's so unfocused when he doesn't get his Ritalin."

Was sitting next to my dad at the time and I said to the lady why don't you just hit him upside his head like they used to do when we were kids he'll be focused instantly.

What if we all do have disorders, but the situation isn't made better by being aware of them and using them as excuses. Maybe the people who do best in life are people who have their various flaws, but do their best because they have no reason to think any less should be expected of them.
