Last summer the landlord wasn't tending the lawn and it was up to my nipples so I cut it. I got mites. I needed just a tube of medicated salve. 2 applications and wash all my laundry and sheets and they are gone in a week. But this was the PANDEMIC!!! and the weekend urgent care and even the free clinics were closed. They had signs on the door telling people to go to the ER. So that's where I go. They put me in a bed and it took hours for an obvious student to look at my skin. Even though I got mites once before after riding the bus filled with obvious immigrants to the edge of the county to look at a property. So after he leaves I was there long enough to actually fall asleep in the middle of the day because the only thing to do there was watch Saturday afternoon TV. I hadn't brought a book because this literally should have taken 15 minutes. I spent less time in there than when I got an abscess from a black widow bite a couple years prior and needed it drained, flushed, and packed with gauze. That took about an hour. All they needed to do was look at the little spots on my arm to see that they were slowly moving and give me a tube of cream. That took hours, and they gave me 3 prescriptions: the cream that costs like $20, and a pill for internal parasites and basically a high powered antihistamine, which the latter two combined was something like $75. Then they sent me a bill for thousands of dollars on top of that even though the free clinic that told me to go there was THEIR free clinic. And they would have given me the cream for free.
And I used to work IT for that hospital, too.
