Oh god yes I agree. I do not have children yet (trying, hopefully soon) , and I HATE that people refer to me as my dogs mother I always respond "this is my pet not my child" and it throws people off but I feel like embarrassed when people say that to me because I'm like, I want human children this is just a dog....

I’ve had cats for over a decade (don’t give me that look, I like having a furry critter around), and it’s the same thing. People refer to me as the cats’ mom and I’ll always tell them that the cats are more like freeloading roommates, not my children. I think people are just used to women having zero perspective on animals.

A cat or a dog is not a surrogate child.
