I had a conversation with a black boomer today.

He actually believes that whites aren't afraid of the police, whites aren't afraid of getting pulled over by the police, and that white parents don't have to teach their children about appropriate police interactions. It's not a meme folks, it's reality.

When I calmly informed him that his ideas were incorrect, he asserted that I must be feeling agitated and found a reason to visit some other dept.

For those of you who aren't familiar with gaslighting, one of the core defense methods is to stay calmly defiant.

WTF are you talking about. He's absolutely correct, I'm not afraid of being pulled over. My parents never said now boy, if you get pulled over don't try to run, don't try to assault the officer, don't be disrepectful, no, they said none of that. Why? because they know I'm not a fucking retard.

You should offer the same default level of respect to everyone including law enforcement. Based on people's actions towards you or the situation at hand, you modify your behavior appropriately.

I’ve taught my kids not to be retarded in any interactions and they don’t see me acting a fool in normal social interactions. I’ve also gave them tips during pull overs if ever it should arise. But it basically reverts to respect and dignity. Acting like a retard can get you into unnecessary shit in any situation. Feelings aside during pull overs. Be respectful and follow orders and settle injustice in court if things get out of hand because there is definitely a few fucked up police out there. Acting like a chimp during an arrest will make things worse and can put you at greater risk. Exspecially being white. Since if a police kills you. Nobody will burn any cities down over it.

Wtf are you talking about? You've never noticed an officer driving nearby, and been worried that he might pull you over? Your parents never told you to keep your hands on the wheel to establish trust between you and the officer?

I guess I knew that intrinsically. Also if it's at night turn the dome light on ( if you don't have contraband in the car. ) turn your 4 way flashers on too when you get pulled over. turn the radio off etc. Roll the window all the way down.

Basically I think if I were the officer coming up to an unknown vehicle I think "what would put me more at ease" and behave like that. Odds are they're giving you a ticket to fill a quota not shoot you.

Unless you're driving like a complete asshole then you deserve what you get.
