I trust zero arguments based on authority alone. That will lead to dogmatic thinking. I am very comfortable with not knowing. I use my gut instinct a lot. It doesn't really hurt me. But just because a source is old doesn't mean it is correct. Using that reasoning you would have to say that earth is flat because that's what all the ancients believed.
I know things, and I know enough things to say I know very little. I don't even know what questions I will ask that will lead me to understand that I know even less then I thought I knew. And I'm totally OK with that.

In order for me to just accept that argument I would need to first hold the dogmatic view that the Bible is the word of God and the truth. Which I do not.
So I will reason with the statement and see if I prove it in my own life first. The ability to understand things is apart of a beings intellect and level of consciousness. "that it is not possible for Dogs to understand Man's ways." The statement seems true. It is based on the level of lower consciousness not being able to fully understand a Higher consciousness. For this to be absolutely true we must prove that a Dog can never obtain the consciousness of a civilized Man. Which I cannot do. With in the belief system of Christianity there is only one True God and he is the Alpha and Omega and also a Holy Trinity... Both 1 and 3 at the same time. Job will never have God's Understanding because that was Jesus' role to full fill in the trinity. The man with God's understanding.
But if we step out of the belief system and ask the questions can a man ever become a God or gain God like understanding? Studying that you can find 2 paths, there are probably more... either do it by technology (transhumanism) or do it through spirituality (ascension).
So IF it is possible for man to gain understanding of God's ways... at that moment they are no longer a man are they? they have achieved a higher level of understanding and consciousness.
After any of these thought experiments I look at my own purpose and path and life goals. Does this help me? Have I learned something to take with me and help me on my path? Not really. I do not desire to be a God or have their understanding. My connection to the divine is still between me and the ALL. I still reject priest class systems and dogmatic view points. People are fun to talk to and I enjoy doing so. However if I get a chance to meet a Dog headed man that would be pretty cool.
So I say cool. Life is fun.
