you wont be able to make calls or use the internet but a mobile phone is chargeable in a blackout.
question. if the lights go down here, do all of the satellite navigation systems go with it or not?
GPS is satellite based, it depends on if the military wants to encrypt them or make them give false coordinates or leave them alone.
Thesethings are only charges le if you have a small solar charger or something. The problem is those break over time and you need to have the solder and non electrical soldering iron to fix them.
You have to be prepared. But then you have to ration their use too beucase you know they will break and you have essential knowledge on them.
Paper books are better.
