The environmentalists will bio-engineer a bacteria to break it down and release it into the wild.it will be a success. It will be so successful that suddenly all of those plastic products like decking, PEX, automobile parts, PVC, etc. That are touched by water will start to bio-degrade.

Then they will give everyone a mRNA vaccination that turns them into the living dead and make them want to eat what they never used in life...

Or the jab will turn people into plastic-eating zombies.

We lived without plastics for a million years (number varies depending on how long you think the human species has existed). We can do without them tomorrow, if we need to. Stuff used to be made from woods, composits, and metals. There is no shortage of any of these things. Who thinks a nice tooled aluminum case for their laptop is worse than a molded plastic case? Nobody. There is status in real materials such as wood and metal. Plus, plastics are poisoning us, and may well result in the extinction of our race, or at least, of the white race.

Plastics come from ancient plants. Combustion is as good as any bacteria in breaking it down so it can become plants again. Just burn it.

Just burn it. It's nothing that didn't ultimately come from plants. Burning it is actually what plants crave.

you can melt plastic back into diesel fuel. just use heat in the absence of oxygen.

One can only hope

There's a Doom Patrol episode about that and they're in an aeroplane that is being slowly eaten while they race against time to find the solution (pun not intended).
