One of the most glaringly obvious examples of this trap is the successful loser; The man who makes $70 an hour in his profession so that he may spend all his money on toys. He spends his days wasting away on his Nintendo Switch and has no sense of honor, family, friends, or fellowship. He lives only for himself and believes he is Anthony Hopkin's character from the movie Fracture - Aspiring to live alone in his own castle.

The Faggot who wants to travel the world: Lives an unfulfilling life with the intent on being a tourist in foreign lands. His life is perfectly suited as he already lives like a tourist in his own home town sporting no roots to hold him down. He puts in his 9 hours at work then drinks himself to sleep. Oh boy, I can't wait to chill at the cool wine bar in the hotel then hang out at the pool. Amazing how I can be so alone in a world of several billion people.

The Debauched: Life's a party! Constantly seeking the validation of others. Needs to surround himself with other debauched types - which is perfectly reasonable because we are social beings. This would nicely describe most the kids I went to school with who are still hoping to live their days partying. The path to debauchery only ever leads to more debauchery.

The Rake: Gotta get those numbers up, bro. You don't want to date a virgin. Find a girl who knows how to take care of you in bed. Then find another one. Mannnnn, getting laid does wonders for my self-esteem. I gotta come out to these taverns more often. Gotta love the debauched social circle.

The Successful Alcoholic This architype can be seen in most advertisements for alcohol. Standing tall and confident at a table with fellow successful young people dressed in suits on top of a high-rise (Somehow) drinking insert favorite brand whiskey/vodka. You are being sold your sense of identity.

In direct contrast to:

The Alpha Hunter Gatherer whom lives in a small tribe in the middle of the rain forest. His people have never seen Western culture. He spends his days hunting and gathering for his family and tribe. He is completely fulfilled by this modest life. His values are simply but pure. He exemplifies that there is no such thing as self-esteem. For confidence does not come from constant fixation on self (Trained narcissism) but rather, a sense of honor and duty for the good of one's people.

I believe there are many more architypes of success that have been instilled in our minds by propaganda. They all pander to our deepest needs and insecurities. Just remember: Does that faggot shit really matter? Go spend some time with your family and those you love, have a meal together, and ask yourself what is real.

I saw an interesting program once about Bhutan in Nepal.

Bhutan has roughly 800,000 inhabitants who have long been recognized as some of the happiest people on earth. Each year the king announces any new plans for the population and in 1999 he announced that he was going to abolish income tax, and the crowd politely applauded the generous gesture. Then he announced that they were also going to install transmitters so that they could finally access broadcast TV, something that previously hadn't been possible in their mountainous region, the crowd went wild!

But a strange thing happened, after the introduction of TV this once happy and content nation started to experience a perplexing increase in depression and mental health problems. Crime started to increase, particularly theft, which was upsetting for what had previously been a close knit trust-based society. It got so bad that by 2014 Bhutan ranked 20th on the global suicide index. In response the king implemented the Gross National Happiness Index, to try and create metrics by which they could restore their previous good communal feeling.

The program interviewed Bhutan citizens about this and they explained that before TV ignorance was bliss, they didn't care which motor oil they had for their tractor, but now after seeing the adverts on TV a desire was awakened inside them for the expensive motor oil and if you couldn't afford it you would have to steal it. Women no longer felt desirable if they couldn't afford make up or the latest fashions.

They were psychologically defenceless against the highly refined and manipulative television advertising industry that had been quietly perfecting it's techniques for the past 50 years. Now they weren't content, now they were bombarded with images of perfect people living perfectly airbrushed lives, now they were miserable.

We grew up with this brain poison but at least we had a lifetime to try and develop some antibodies to it, the Bhutanese people were just thrown into the deep end. I can't offer a better illustration of the deleterious effects of television advertising than that.
