After a week sober and a night drunk, I prefer sober. But shit, got to finish this bottle and get it out of the way first. Got wings cooking at 7 in the morning, if I was sober would probably be something stupid like eggs,

Everything in life, in moderation.

Too much of anything is too much.

I dont believe I can moderate drinking, if its there I drink it. But on the plus side I have never had any side effects from stopping anything.

I have known several with this problem. Begin my switching to wine.

Then limit the time of day. Set aside times for no drinking at all. Like morning, work, travel, etc.

A glass at lunch is fine - but just the one, or a bottle of beer. Two is too much. Savor the one.

A glass when you get home from work, but just the one. Another an hour or two before bed.

This way you are not cutting yourself off, just slowing down to a controlled pace. That's so easy you may not notice the difference.

This is also not quitting, it's pacing yourself for the long haul, like a marathon runner.

You are also adapting to a lower percentage of alcohol. The body adapts quickly.

Then set aside a time for partying. Saturday night, say, for example. Anything goes for twelve hours. 7 to 7, if you can stay awake.

That can be isolated and controlled, so as not to impact the rest of your life. Someplace private, with a bed, no need to drive anywhere.

It is important to have rewards.

In Moderation.

Then after two weeks, you cut back the glass at lunch. Switch to coffee.

Two weeks after that you cut back the glass after work.

Many people drink a glass of wine every day. It may promote longevity. You may wish to keep the evening glass, in the privacy of your own home. The oldest living person I ever met, at 103, drank an ounce of scotch whiskey every day at tea time.

If you must go with hard liquor, then only on Saturday, and only two glasses with two ounces each. The rest is wine. All the wine you can drink, but, hard liquor becomes a treat. It'll knock you on your ass after you have switched over to wine. I recommend home cooking, put on a major meal. I like to finish my major partying with whiskey on ice myself. A couple of glasses of that, after an evening of partying, usually puts me to bed.

You are still partying fifty two times a year, which is more than adequate. Only now you also have the rest of your life not being destroyed by it. If you miss a Saturday, there's always the next one.

You are not quitting drinking. You are replacing quantity with quality. Saturday becomes a major social event. Quality partying. The best food, wine, and entertainment. Living life at it's very best. Maximum value. Something to look forward to. If you do it every day, it loses all value. Knock that back to once a month, and make the evening exceptional.

Or you could get some high alcohol craft beer. They come in smaller bottles and drinking a whole bottle is like having a glass.

social? what is that? No, either you drink or you dont.
