Obama's character was that of the great racial unifier, but in hindisght his presidency exacerbated the political fractures by driving the race narrative. Even though we can find some things that Trump did that were beneficial, this was mostly to placate the right. And aside from those things, the largest effect he had was to push the political divide to a point beyond repair, this is his true legacy. Even though he may have not intended that, that's why he was allowed to preside.
