So Tesla chargers don't communicate to Supercharging stations?
I don't know how Teslas communicate because it's a proprietary plug. Standard Level I and Level 2 chargers do not communicate with the car any more than a GFI outlet "communicates" with a blowdryer. They have some circuitry to make sure a car is connected and ready to accept a charge before allowing current to flow, but otherwise public chargers are much like a gas pump in that you pay with a credit card or app on your phone. They could block you that way same as gas, but you could still just plug in to any standard electrical outlet anywhere.
You could plug into standard outlets, but the time to charge to make cross country trips will be long.
Eventually when chargers become smarter they will have more systems like this. They aren't forcing us to EVs so we can have more control and mobility. It's for them to have more control over us, and less mobility for us.

If you're using a 220V outlet the time is the same as a public charger unless you're talking about the specialized fast chargers. Most people don't use those often because fast charging damages the battery.

But that's wrong. You have more control. You can get electricity far more places than you can get gasoline. One strategic pipeline can be sabotaged and an entire region has no gas. Not only do you have to knock out the grid in that area to disable electric cars, but you have to knock out the gas so people can't use generators and you have to knock out the sun so they can't use solar panels.
