Cold fusion worked in 1989 and the inventors had their reputations destroyed by MIT which now run a course on the subject.

Explained these were all bought and hidden to protect the energy industry. There was one in Cali too, half water half fuel. Tested with news in Porsche 944. All over news one night, gone the next, phone disconnected and business gone in a week. Was an Irish company, invented a magnetic motor. Worked, they went public in a big way. Company went to demonstrate, had ‘problems’ and their webpage went stagnant, never heard from them again.

Also the joe cell in Australia. Four guys tried to commercialize it and all died in a couple of years.
If you have something that works you need to just get it out to the public or it will disappear with you.
