Recently I stumbled on a music video on YT, which was age restricted.

I was curious why would be that, so I logged in YT, since usually that was enough to confirm ones age. Specially since my YT account is more than 15 years old, with same gmail attached more than 14 years.

But now I got this weird proposal, that I should confirm my age by giving my credit card number. The other option was to give passport or whatever ID, and wait 3 days, for some banal music video by pretty popular band - no one sane would do that, so I was thinking, why google wants to get your bank accounts number.

Accidentally, few days later I got this mail, notice from Switzerland based company, about my subscription, they figured they cant renew it, bc of different bank card. So as you can see, because of original ID of purchase they have, they can get from the bank all the info about new bank cards.

Probably that is due to this Trade Agreements, like was ACTA, signed by many states in 2011 and later, so that some corporation can get from your bank all the data of your new bank cards, which should be private.

So I was thinking, if someone will give YT-google that credit card number, how would you know that there is not some hidden text saying, that they can have your bank account data permanently, or at least as long as you ever click on some YT video - which can't be avoided?

All this is far from innocent and banal. Specially if Google plans to launch its own Google-money in the future. I just hope you can get big picture here.

So I think it is important to know, specially bc of current state of US dollar, and all this recent EU legislation, by which we in EU, we had to get this "security" apps on our (mostly android!) phones, to confirm any transaction one is making via computer... so even if you refuse to have chrome browser, google will know all about that.

That's all, I'll appreciate any thoughts about this.

As an asaide, if you want to watch an age restricted video on youtube without signing in, just add the letters 'nsfw' in front of 'youtube' in the url. Here is an example: - From:

  • To:

It works most of the time.

There's also https://youtubensfw.com, which works for the ones that your one doesn't.
