That’s being defensive and trying to logic your way out of an illogical attack. You’re not deflecting anything and you’re letting them control the conversation (they’ve decided to discuss if you’re an “antisemite” and you’re agreeing to talk about that)
What you want to do is ignore the attack and ridicule the person who said it to you. Put them on the defensive.
Just LMAOing at all the people who try to shut you down with and the -phobe/-ism labels is hilariously effective.
Fuck that. Double down on whatever they called you out on.
I agree that can work too.
In sixth grade, me and this kid Danny were hauled into the principles office for fist fighting in the hallway. It started because I said something about Danny’s mom. The principal asked me why I would say so,etching about his mom, and I replied, “because, fuck his mom”. Of course I got a paddling, but I was going to anyway and I knew that., so I had nothing to lose by standing up for myself. I’ve been doing this ever since.
Answering a question with a question is not a defensive posture any more than redirecting a physical attacker.
In this case it is. It’s not redirecting at all, it’s an attempt to disprove the accusation and giving the other guy the chance to say even more bullshit on top on that.
