So ... the liittle horsie is called a knight, right?
Yes, that is correct. At the start of each game, the knights, the rooks, the bishops, the queen and king, are all protected by a line of pieces called "butt-plugs."

This whole theory started when a player said "1150s are the bane of my existence" and I had already observed this in my own games. So I started to wonder how that is possible. How can a player be good and yet be an 1150? Then it hit me
1150 is a sweet spot that decent players sink to on a bender because no matter how wasted you are you're beating a 1050. Yet you lose enough games to stay right at 1150. 1300s underestimate you constantly. Always the right moves. But you lose 8 games in a row drunk cause you cant sleep.
Right now for example I just hit 1150. I was a 1350 when I moved here, had been a 1400+ at my peak, and have been partying alot.
It seems like I'm making the same moves as when I'm winning. Yet I am losing to 1300s. Then 1250s. Then 1200s. Then you play 1150s and you immediately notice they are johnny on the spot. The 1250s play poorly but make good bold attacks. The 1150 play properly. That's how i know they are 1400s. About half of them I'd say.
When I get back into the 1300s I see 1200s as retarded. I swear I will never dip below 1300 again. And I believe it. Then I start getting wasted and it drops like gamestop at market opening
I was just brushing up around 1500, then got pretty disheartened when I realized I was merely flirting with 50th percentile
I was always high when I played tho, so not sure if I'm better than my score or worse...
On chess dot com 1400 is the 90th percentile. Were you on lichess? The ratings are very different there.
Yeah lichess
Funny just last week a buddy said they're the same. I figured that had to be incorrect
I tried to estimate the difference and I think it as much as 300. I was once a 1700 on lichess! It was nice to see the high number though
Oh and pot is actually what causes my big rating dips. When I run out I go up
Why do you keep playing chess drunk then? Is this a common thing?
It is a battlefield and it sounds good when you're in bed but not quite asleep. If you play 10 minute games you can lose 5 real fast.
