I've been hearing about how the Firefox browser has been taken over by liberal leftist losers, who are going to make it impossible for users to visit rightwing Web sites.

Today way the first time I've seen evidence of this. I went to Gab, and got a warning from my Firefox browser telling me that Gab subscribers have been hacked, and do I really want to visit this site? This warning is purely political -- it has nothing whatsoever to do with browser security. The snowflakes who now control Mozilla don't want us reading Donald Trump's posts.

Firefox has been pozzed for a while. Brave is decent. Palemoon is another option, although it's a bit dated at this point.

Use Iridium and turn off that google setting and you're good to go https://spyware.neocities.org/guides/iridium.html

It's one of the least spyware browsers there is before Tor.

Brave is literally spyware.

Iridium is Chromium just like everything else. Isn't there a fucking browser that isn't god damned Chrome?

Why do you think I'm on Brave?

Brave is spyware. https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/brave.html

Everything is fucking spyware.

Technically yes, but best to limit yourself as much as you can.

decent for now but behind in terms of cookie / tracker blocking. It's always a race, code and these battles are fought literally daily. Until it goes blockchain with a thing like Fractal Protocol, it's a rough bet. Any later browsers and you risk security issues.

Tldr it'll work, as will firefox, it maters what else you slap onto it, opsec, and how your base computer security is. Using windows or mac? Guess what. You have bigger problems.

Final note is that no one is immune from hardware hacks, os zeros, browser extensions, phishing, etc. Don't be stupid. Just because I listed win and mac doesnt mean that linux kernels are immune to problems from shitty installations or faulty browser maintenance

100% agree, especially the final disclaimer.

I can see at least 5 insecure default setup pi ssids from my living room

and someone who thinks no one nearby knows what an ESP32 is..

They just flag sites. It would be class action if they fiddled with user data and got caught. There are a lot of other browsers / cos looking to take down their enemies for doing so. Just because it's leftist doesn't mean it's devoid of competition. The risk these companies have from infiltration the bigger they get is insane. Anyone could leak zeros and the company would be seriously impacted. It's actually planned for and banked on. Social engineering is a bigger market than tech, despite the visible value differences

Either way I'd switch away to brave or a modded waterfox or what have you. If you're listing keys or seriously sensitive data on gab... wtf are you doing. If you're following joe blow on gab, who gives a fuck? Relax, or do something about it

The web as a general platform, is compromised.

It was never a great idea, it was a sales pitch and the world bought it because they made the presentation decent enough and put it in everyones hands and called it computing.

The original format of hyperlinked documents was 'moderately OK' for research document storage and perusal. Even they knew the design was odd.

If people understood how much power there was in the server/client dynamic, everyone would be doing amazing things (cept the ones that dont).

Every single 'application' site used today is an extremely simple but highly scaled paradigm.

Use Lynx browser. Every site is night mode!

No it always does that usually when its not https

Trust no one. No browser. Hear that anticlutch? Trust no ad blocker.

Switch to Iridium: https://iridiumbrowser.de/

It's chrome based like brave (so it works) but it's FOSS. You still need to turn a few things off to make it safe. Read the comments.
