Just doing a little research this morning on how to land some contracts as a service vendor for large companies and I discovered this:
>GET CERTIFIED AS A DBE
If your business is owned and/or controlled by one or more women, veterans, minorities, or members of other qualified disadvantaged groups, you may qualify for certification as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, or DBE.
As a certified minority-owned or disadvantaged small business, you may receive improved visibility during the competitive bidding process with some corporations and government organizations, giving you a leg up on your competition.

It really bugs me because as a self-employed contractor, it's tough as hell to land new customers, especially fortune 500 companies to be their exclusive tradesman. So, explain to me how any of these so-called "disadvantaged" minorities own a business if they're disadvantaged?? They already own a business ffs. And just because you're a woman you're considered disadvantaged? Are they suggesting that these people work harder than anyone else? Nothing about qualifications? Pardon my French but this is fucking bullshit. They get bidding priority.
