Asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic spread does happen, it is just that it is much less common (one study showed about 1/20th as likely) and when one catches covid from an asymptomatic person it is less severe.

This argument and several other arguments around covid are stupid and missing the point, because they come from a fundamental misunderstanding of how the infection works. The initial “dose” of SARS COV 2 virus that a person inhales is as important as age/health condition of the person in determining the severity of an illness.

Its not a question of whether someone inhales a single virus or not. Its not binary. The quantity of virus you inhale will determine whether you get no symptoms or mild symptoms or severe covid. Those threshholds are obv much lower for the elderly.

People with no symptoms can theoretically spread the virus but viral levels are quite low until you develop symptoms so they are unlikely to spread the virus and unlikely to cause serious covid cases in the people who do catch covid from them.

The same misunderstanding drives the claim that there’s no “cure” for covid. Covid is very treatable with many antivirals early in the illness before viral level get extremely high.

Fauci and co. rely on superstitious and irrational misperceptions of how viral illnesses spread and infect to spread hysteria. Everyone thinks if you inhale one virus you could catch a fatal case of flying AIDS, you can’t.
