Soapy water is extremely effective at killing bees and wasps. These insects respirate through small holes on their body. Soapy suds instantly stops this. As they are without an internal cavity to store air (as in lungs), they instantly stop breathing. The effect is so fast it's frequently comparable to nerve agents.

Oh, me too. Was at the checkout lane with some in my cart, and an employee mentioned it to me. Thought I'd pass it along. Haven't had hair spray in my home in...... years. Hair down to waist, no need for it.

I get wasps under the eaves of my 1 1/2 story home, hair spray just isn't gonna make it.

And you're not crazy lol.
