They're seen as even less legitimate than police. Complete mocks and strips them of any mystique, hollywood glamor or CSI-tier pseudo celebrity. Also severely de-legitimatizes them even more than they already are. They go in the public mind from "police/investigators/federal officials!" to "an organization of lawyers." Almost like a private organization, like any two bit private eye, or city lawyer. Any time someone says anything that sounds remotely glowy, respond with "better caul saul at that watergate legal firm, the fbi."
