I agree, but for the moment most lefties are still horrified by child rape and this can be used to distance them from portions of the gay community.

Some child sex, but not all. They still want to give 12 year olds free condoms without parental consent and all it takes to convince normies is a mention of pregnancy risk. The bulwark you're talking about has failed every time so far, and history repeats itself.
