I was hoping to get outside my echo chamber and talk to liberals about their beliefs. So I find a subreddit and politely inquire. Of course, my post is instantly blocked, awaiting mod approval, and despite messaging them will never show up.

How do you avoid this? You post on reddit saying approved things to earn enough points. So they've basically locked people who don't think like them completely out of any possible conversation, even if that comes from a place of genuine and well meaning inquiry. I don't even know how to talk to democrats because they all go la la la we can't hear you or outright censor everything you say. They live in a mental prison of only approved thoughts and the prison guards keep them safe from any unapproved ideas.

Yep. The same thing would happen with voat, just in the opposite direction. Any opinion that didn't fit the zeitgeist got downvoted to oblivion and that person was limited to 10 posts per day and couldn't link and was, effectively, a non-person.
