I tried once with a tweaker. Dude was also schizo. I took him out on hikes, even BBq'd on the river a couple times.
After a couple months he relapsed, scored some bad fentanyl and nearly died. I didn't judge him for that because I know addiction is a relentless force. However, the first time he gave me shit for not doing enough to help him I dropped him like a rotten fish and never looked back.

It is sad, especially when you know them. I know. It's harsh, but I am an advocate of putting these people down. The junkies who are found incoherent, despondent, or out of control, just put them down. It sucks
