Seriously, it sucks. I know you're not supposed to go to work and enjoy it, but i feel like all im doing is cashing in the pay check, in return the company looks good for not firing people. Work is at a crawl, very little features being rolled out, even other departments are having trouble justifying their existence. And yet, young me would have left. Older me, says screw it, ill bend them for all they have and cash out as much money as i can. Company doesnt care about me, why should i care about them?

You accept the trade off and should therefore chose to be content with that.

No reason to be upset. You acknowledge it is a trade off. At least you have work. Many do not.

If you have a better option, then by all means explore that.

No, you don't owe any loyalty on an employment basis. Employment is a contract for service. Personal relationships with your fellow workers is another matter entirely. It's like that in the military too. There are several similarities, and it was designed that way on purpose, precisely to generate this band of brothers type effect among the troops.

There are better jobs out there, but not nearly enough to satisfy everyone. The vast majority work in places they don't like. Finding work you enjoy doing, in a place you enjoy being, is the exception. Damned lucky when it happens.

Don't forget it's February, and there is not a lot of light right now, so some depression is completely natural at this time of year. The good news is spring is only a few more weeks away, and for me, that is the very best time of year. I love the spring. I'm going fishing.

Excellent post goat/bear. Thanks for providing some great insight.
