You can calculate wattage by Amps*Volts. 120volt 15Amp furnace requires 1800 watts.
DUde. You have no idea what you are babbling about.
You're not going to find an appropriate receptacle for a transfer switch on a genset smaller than 6000W, and if you just hack in power from a butchered power cord, or some such hillbilly shit, you're going to either burn your house down, or electrocute linesmen.
If you want to run 1800W worth of appliance, you need a rating of around 3000W on your genny.
I live in rural Canada, I own four generators.
