Which is probably because the stories we have today, the Eddas, were written down and modified by Christian monks to make them look more like Christianity.

That is almost certainly not how things went in the original stories.

So you're throwing down the "unreliable narrator" flag on the entirety of Norse Mythology? If everything that we know about Norse mythology today were a lie, then how could anyone argue anything using it?

I find it more plausible that the Prose Edda's origin story is rooted in historical truth. It would certainly be odd if Christian monks edited the Prose Edda so that it told elements of Christianity--the diaspora of the Israelites--so much more clearly than the Bible does.

On the whole of it? No. Obviously different writers modified or changed things in different ways. Get enough different versions, and you can excise the differences and get to something that is probably close to the truth.

As for telling Christian stories more concisely than their bible: you are aware that Christian mythos texts are labyrinthine, yes? Children's versions tell the same stories much more clearly and simpler. If your goal was to subvert a religion by injecting your own into it, why would you make it hard to understand?
