Yeah, always wondered about that. When it aired originally, I thought it looked stupid. Fox's advertising didn't help; it almost came off as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but in space" and I was instantly turned off.
Fast forward a few years (after Fox killed it but well before the movie) and 1. I'm bored as fuck; 2. I found the DVD box set on sale. Took a chance on it and finally understood the hype.
Also, I kinda got the sense that the movie was the entire intended plot of the series, condensed inton2 hours. Anyone else?
The movie was supposed to finish out what the first season was going to cover.
I think when word got uphill that there was going to be a thing about mass drugging the air supply causing ultra violence in the population, the parallels with SSRIs and other substances were going to be a subject of discussion. This cannot happen.
