Humanity has been on a downward spiral since then. People on both sides of the political spectrum lack compassion and the will to understand each other today. We no longer ask why.

We had a good run, but our time is ending. Quite sad, as we had potential to go places in the universe.

When I was a child, I always thought the biggest threat to our existence was some celestial phenomenon, but instead it seems we'll largely just kill ourselves.

If you look at English and European literature in the 17th century, you will be amazed at how complex the sentence structure is compared to what we use today. The King James Bible is an example. My own feeling is that human intelligence reached its highest development in Europe during this period, and we have been in decline ever since.
