Possibly, I'm sure my misspent youth didn't help, but my job and lots of loud droning fans isn't helping either.
Yeah, that too. I discovered decent noise cancelling headphones [and nice parkas] reasonably quickly after getting assigned to data center shift a few times. The warmest rack of servers to sit behind was also the loudest.
I've tended to sit around older things, PDP-11s, racks of equipment for specialty testing, weird shit. Same thing, so many fans...
Hmm, let's see. These were some Sun servers. I joked it was clearly warmer in the sun. They were very reliable. I was constantly changing out drives and things in all those crappy Compaq servers. Unfair comparison, come to think of it, the Sun servers didn't have drives in their own chassis; all the storage was on SANs the next rack over.
