The site might get far far more users now.

Every one of the top 200 web sites , for the last 20 years, including today, are white background, beneath black text for body text. Check Alexa web list if you doubt this.

I just registered for the first time ever because of this change.

The admins can look at my IP in logs and verify I lurked for over a month without ever once creating an account until now, and the white text on grey sucked as a casual user and kept me away in diusgust.

This is my first post, and it is 100% factual.

BLACK atop WHITE is fastest.

In countless psychology speed-reading comprehension tests, for over 50 years, BLACK TEXT on WHITE is the fastest for humans to read, and serif font faster than non serif font. Not one study ever showed otherwise.

Also, all the top 200 web sites, ranked by alexa, all 200, feature body text that is BLACK on either white or almost white. NOT ONE popular web site is dark mode because they all got knocked out of top 200, or went bankrupt.

Science is science. Facts are facts. Its not a belief system or an opinion. I typed hard facts.

See? Black atop White is fastest, as over 10 other studies confirm.

All speed reading tests in all science papers since the 1950s, soundly prove humans read and comprehend fastest using black text on a white background. This seems to correlate with the death of any web site from the top 200 site list that does not default to black atop white.

If a site offering text wants to be in the top 200, wikipedia, ebay, for over 20 years, the only way to achieve it is to have BLACK text on WHITE background. Why? Because it is what human brain prefers.
