A conservative minded person is an individual with an opinion. If proven wrong, the opinion changes to include the new information. Liberal minded people are part of a group and they repeat the talking points of their group. If proven wrong, they think that they have failed to carry the message. They are convinced that the leaders of their group have the arguments needed to prove that your group is wrong (they don't see you as an individual).
