If you are not familiar with IRC it is time to learn. IRC is the internet relay chat network that has been around for at least thirty years. It's extremely useful, there are dozens of clients, and it's off the radar and not subject to the problems with big tech censorship.

To use IRC, get an IRC client. There are graphical clients and also terminal-based clients, which are the best way to go. There are multiple IRC servers - the largest is Freenode. Once you install an IRC client join the chat.freenode.net server and join the #poal channel to come chat.

There are many resources online about IRC basics if you need them. You'll get the hang of it quickly.

Poal has a Synapse/Element (encrypted) self-hosted chat server that is under maintenance and will be back soon (today or tomorrow).

Using a third party IRC server, especially jew-owned Freenode (same as PIA who fucked voat) will not protect you privacy. Your real IP can easily be exposed.

this is true - but freenode works with a VPN and really doesn't have time or resources to go through every channel to see if we're engaging in wrong think. it was never implied that there was an official channel, not that it should matter. all this post is doing is letting users know where to find us on IRC.

Do I register on a server by server basis?

I deleted "Anticlutch" on the element server and I want it back but once it's deleted that's not a thing apparently.

the infrastructure needed for these discord and slack style knockoffs is a weakness. the reason we are trying to get people to learn how to use IRC is because it is resilient, established, and flexible

Not official IRC chan but I made it on Rizon which might be full of weebs and gaymers but IS free speech, freenode is a lefty cesspool as is most IRC networks.

Just grab mIRC and read the help file. It is brain dead easy to use. Turn off dcc file sharing and a few other things until you need them.
