Yep. Get yourselves on Linux too. Windows is essentially a glorified keylogger.
I've been using Linux since before it had networking. I used to roll my own dist at about the point the kernel was at about v0.7 or so. I contributed to the serial and packet radio drivers early on, but was too busy with work to stay up on the fast and furious development later on.
I'm posting from Debian 10 running on a Dell EMC Poweredge T40 with two nvme's that contain the OS and a 3 disk RAID 5 for my data.

I use Puppy Linux. It loads entirely in RAM and is faster than bats out of hell. And if anything goes wrong, I can just restart the X server and it’s a clean slate.
There's a whole bunch of those micro distro's that are pretty good. A lot of them are designed for the Raspberry Pi and other micro computers.
