I don't know how many have thought about it quite this way, but in a nation that is this polarized on values, you cannot have a functioning court system. It can't work. Violation of this or that combined with your intersectional label means the public will already try you before the courts can, and the courts capitulate to the public - as we have seen.
Justice systems only work when everyone has the same theory of justice. One half of our country has already decided the other is guilty a priori; it's attached to your identity like witchcraft was to women in Salem. We have two mutually exclusive philosophies of justice vying for operation in the system - and ours was excluded from that system a while ago.
They'll use it to police you. Step out of line, and you'll get taken to the kangaroo court because they already know your fate there.
The system is irrevocably fucked for conservative white Americans. It is irredeemable for you.
The system has been stolen from you and will be turned against you like a weapon, and you'll either succumb, or you'll gather together and fight it.
People don't want to believe that we're there yet. But we're there. Everyone is waiting around for a hero.
Haters will say it's fake.
