"POAL was pretty bad, they didn't understand the common useage of the downvote button. I asked their Admin about that policy, and they told me that I could thumb-down posts and I would be ok as long as I wasn't predatory and went after specific users. The next think I know, I went from a positive 60 rating, to negative 100+. They claim "Say what you want" then censor you into oblivion! I don't need them! They can run their little comfort blanket circle jerk echo chamber without me!"

I think it allows bad content to thrive here, where it would die quickly in voat.

Stupid questions.

I was disheartened to see so many stupid posts and people don't downvoat because it's technically in the correct place.

I was ok with downvoating someone into oblivion. I thought it was the best democratic way of censorship.

Meaning.. You allow anyone to post anything. But people will vote down if they hate it.

There were some pedo users there (loli shit), I used to downvoat even their "normal" posts, because you could clearly see they posted 10 pedo shit and 1 normal post trying to farm points so they can post 10 more pedo shit.

Therefore I see no problem in users like me, downvoating even the "normal" posts. He was never censored.

But at least his content was never top nor his points were ever high enough he could spam pedo shit everywhere.

I know. It's not allowed anywhere. It was not allowed on voat.

But loli hentai is drawing and therefore it is allowed.

That does not change my point. The user was a pedo, he even had comments like: "no such thing was too young". Replying to a comment on a picture of a clearly underage girl in bikini.

He was not posting CP. But pedo related (loli drawing) and comments. And me and others were happily downvoating his posts and comments, even the normal ones.
