It just shows that they are lying. It has nothing to do with an algorithm and I know this for a fact. There might be an auto flag method if you downvote to much which they will of course say there is but I know for absolute fact they have the power at any time to flag any account for any reason as suspicious and nuke your score.
Absolutely. I've heard a lot of people saying they didn't downvote anything and they got it. Why would multiple people lie about something so stupid. There could be other motives. I have no doubt there could be other things that make you get the badge. Only the admins could tell us.
Take screenshots just incase they nuke me from the website for daring to question their authority.
I will. Maybe it is because people were using alt accounts to raise their points, had suspicious stuff in comments, or something else. I'm not sure. Maybe the system is flawed. Who knows. Someone tagged the admins so maybe the will answer.
