Why are more people dying this year compared to previous years?

I agree that comorbidities increase the deadliness of covid.
And you agree that excess death statistics show hundreds of thousands of additional deaths this year correct?
So currently the only explanation for these extra deaths is covid, and that without covid statistically these extra people would not have died of their existing conditions.
Do you have an alternative explanation?

Did CDC state that only 6% died from covid here? First step.
