So I looked up "Inspircd mode +x" and found that gives a breakdown. I have only used ircd and it is as simple as enabling a default user login mode. From what I have read if you have all the applicable modules installed it should just work with the proper flags stated under the <connect allow= part of the config. You have to generate a password hash as well and this HOWTO walks you through it. If you are still having problems I can do a install on a server and get it config'd up.
