What's to hate man? Getting it all over you? Making sure it is fucking perfect? Moving heavy ass forms? It's a great thing to deal with

Concrete is nigger work.

[–] 2 pts

Did you drop a slab of it on your foot?

I'm pouring another boat ramp

Do you get to hold back the water with that giant bag thing again?

Yup

LOL Many moons ago, as a summer job, I did concrete foundations - with the old dog-and-tie forms, made out of rough-cut lumber and using 3/4" plywood - and filled with years worth of form oil.

So, I agree! Concrete sucks balls. The pay wasn't bad but the hours were long and concrete gets worked when it wants to be worked.

Anyhow, most boat ramps (around here) are slabs and pour off-site. They then put them into a bed of gravel and use pea-stone (I think) to top them off. They drop 'em in with like a boom truck.

It's not like that where you're at? I'd have figured that'd be all the rage, for some definition of 'rage' when it comes to the frequency of putting in boat ramps. Even here, that's not actually a regular thing - at least not that I've seen.

Yeah I wish we were using pre cast that would be nice. Sadly we poured it on site. At least we got a pump truck which made it a little easier.

Okay, build your foundation and your driveway out of swamp mud or sand and get back to us.

You have a point

I used to do concrete and waterproofing for a living. You also have a point. Concrete is a strenuous, sometimes unpredictable pain in the ass, especially if you don't have plenty of good help.
