My Little Pony was a mildly successful toy commercial in the 80s, and a bad toy commercial in the 2000s.
There were more (unsuccessful) iterations than that
Fat furry weeb wannabes don't buy many toys unless they're waifu pillows
You're wrong, weebs love to collect figurines and all other merch, they're the ones financing this whole industry
I only remember the two iterations. Did they try and bring it back more often?
I have to take your word on the toy stuff. The only piece of merchandise i ever bought that wasn't a book was the handheld electronic Battlestar Galactica game from back in 79. https://pic8.co/sh/L6HYx0.jpg

I remember reading about gen 3.5 and gen 4, so likely they did. Some are apparently only on VCR.
I quit bothering with television in the early 90s, so the only way I knew about the current shite was when it started to invade the little bit of sci-fi I followed, and when my youngest niece got into Equestria Girls.
Wouldn't surprise me that Hasboner tried to re-capitalize on that. I have no idea what made the current version so popular, it just was there and then I had someone who was pissed that I wasn't following it and was going to "lecture me on the importance of pony." That was about 5 minutes before I said well...no thank you and removed the person from my contact lists.
