Father's side came from Ireland in early 1900s, yeah potato niggers, but didn't slum out in the cities - went and farmed the midwest, integrated into 'merica, generation by generation grew more prosperous, eventually they didn't all farm but some became tradesmen, then served in WW2, got college education, the kids grew up suburban and never needed to rely on their bodies for work, and now me/us... trying to get back what was lost.
