If I post a link to a site, I may or may not agree on its contents.

The main purpose of posting a link into a news aggregator is for conversation, sharing thoughts, and wanting to know what others think about it.

If someone posts a link to something unpopular, it is possibly not because of endorsement but because of wanting to know what others have to say about it.

Maybe, this sounds obvious to some. But I am just explaining it for the others.

I think that sentiment is reflected in the down vote culture here. Our rather the non down vote culture.

Of I see something in new that I disagree with I just scroll on. If I feel strongly enough I'll comment on it, though usually I can't be bothered. When I venture into the more tending sortings of new I feel like I see similar behavior.

That's just my observation. It could be that there are people doing things differently.

I will often click on posts with which I disagree for the exposure to other ideas. I usually up vote everything I click on.

That makes sense. I guess it depends on my mood & situation. If I'm browsing to kill a couple minutes or if I'm in a foul mood I'm less likely to follow a link with a title that rubs me the wrong way.
