I think that sentiment is reflected in the down vote culture here. Our rather the non down vote culture.
Of I see something in new that I disagree with I just scroll on. If I feel strongly enough I'll comment on it, though usually I can't be bothered. When I venture into the more tending sortings of new I feel like I see similar behavior.
That's just my observation. It could be that there are people doing things differently.

I will often click on posts with which I disagree for the exposure to other ideas. I usually up vote everything I click on.
That makes sense. I guess it depends on my mood & situation. If I'm browsing to kill a couple minutes or if I'm in a foul mood I'm less likely to follow a link with a title that rubs me the wrong way.

Especially when it comes to conspiracy theory. I'm not knocking conspiracy theory by saying that. I am very much a conspiracy theorist. But that won't stop me from posting something I don't believe at all because I think it's interesting to think about.
For example, you would have a hard time convincing me that someone besides the Fed assassinated JFK. But if someone wants to take a different stab at solving who dun it, I'll read about it, and I'll even share it with others.
